I have a bad turn signal, where the ground prong broke off, and need to remove it. I can easily remove one of the 10mm nuts, but I believe there is another one that is hidden. How the heck do you get these things out? Do I need to remove the bumper? This is not the plastic style bumper. With this style you can see the turn signal wiring and all. Any ideas? For now, I have run a separate ground wire. Thanks
how the heck do you get the turn signals out of diving board bumper?

you have to remove the bumper to gain access. after you have it removed i believe you have to remove the trim to gain full access, which is secured with nuts on the back of the bumper.

That sucks. I think I have to remove the 4 bolts that hold the diving boards to the bumper shock braces, correct? Any other attachments? Thanks.Comment

i found the easiest way was to remove the two bolts that connect the shock to the frame, and remove the bumper and shocks all at once. IIRC they are easier to reinstall when you put it back together than the nuts on the back of the bumper.
if you have an early 'is' or 'es' youll have to take off the front valance off first.
if you have an 88 with the diving boards and late model valance, the process is different, and easier. there should be two big holes in the bottom of the bumper giving you access to bolts that hold the bumper to the shock, remove them with an 10mm(?) hex key.
the only other thing attached would be the wiring connectors for the turn signals.
this link is for accessing the signals on an 88, and it has some good images of whats going on: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/462325

Ok, thank you. I have an 87 325is. So, the valence will have to off first. I may keep that separate ground wire fix in there for a while then.Comment
