    Vdo speedometer, 140mph vs 150mph

    I replaced the gears on my VDO cluster, but after several attempts of messing with the gears and tightness of plastic clear cover, it still does not work.

    The other day I found a cluster from a junkyard that came from an automatic. It's a VDO. Although my cluster is for a manual, is it possible to switch the speedometer out without any electrical problems? Will values read different when driving? Will it read higher than normal mph?

    You can switch speedometers with no issues. The instrument cluster does not care whether you have an auto or manual transmission as the speedo signal is coming from the rear differential. There will not be any change in the reading.

        There is a difference between early cars and late cars though and they are not interchangeable. See here:
