    MPG gauge doesn't work

So randomly my mpg gauge that sits under the tachometer stopped working. It is usually stuck at 40+ MPG but quickly moves to 0 the moment I pass 70mph. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this easily or should I just buy a new gauge.

I'd be more inclined to suspect the SI board. Well, possibly the connection to the cluster or the DME. But I'd start with the SI board.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Do you think that its just a dead battery? or do you think that the whole thing will be shot.

Take it out and look at it. If there is corrosion from the dead batteries then your board is most likely shot and needs to be rebuilt.
