What are the signs of the tensioner going on an m42. My motor is developing a bit of a rattler from about 2800 to 3800 rpms.

That would be one.
If it has more than 60k on it, that's another. Cheap and easy to replace. Might also be worn chain, sprockets, or guides. Its got 82k so I think its time to replace the tensioner. Ive got a new one waiting for me at home, so thatll be going in this weekend. Ill also be putting in new belts, tune up stuff etc, coolant flush so that should shore up everything in the motor for a while.Back to my roots
