92 e30 rag top

My boot will not open whe I try to lower my top. I can't fix it myself.
Any suggestions in nj on shop who can fix this?

Boot? Trunk lid or the toneau cover?


If toneau cover, then the handle is busted? Any resistance like it is hooked up to a cable? Pull off the speaker cover, take a peek see if anything is obvious.

The release latch on the other side working?

Ahhhhh a power top. Not manual.

Well you can search for a power to manual conversion

OR

search for the folks who have kept true to the auto top and repaired it, aligned it, fixed theirs.

In NJ there is a member who replaces rag tops. Maybe he is local to you and can offer the help you seek.

His screen name on here is fuzzysux. He may be able to help you but IMO you are better going full manual top. Less moving parts, and less cost to ever fix.

I am parting out my power top, Next week I'l be ready to tear things apart. The motor arm for the toneau cover broke. but the motor for the top works fine. I just have to help the toneau cover
