    Need measurements

    I have a 88 IX that I'm in the process of straightening out. What I'm looking for are measurements body shops would use to pull parts back into shape. I have the pullers and tools, what I don't have are the specs. If someone has a link that would show everything, it would be appreceated.

    It doesn't look like there is any damage to the other side, can't you just take the measurements off of that?

      I thought of that, but what to figure out is common places to measure that would get the results I'm looking for, like the firewall to cross measure. BTW I am replacing the rad support, mine is mangled.

          It got bent, along with the strut tower, which is my concern, alignment and such. It wasn't bent much, the tower, just needs a pull from the side and front to fix. The framerail got bunched up in front of the cradle, almost accordion style, but didn't affect the cradle. I can fix that.

          Or else I do it the hard way. Do it at work where we have a state of the art alignment rack. Make a few pulls, put the car on the rack and check the numbers, repeat as nessessary. This may be the best, but if I can get numbers to get me close, all the better.

            Close is for horseshoes, not unibodies.
            It pays to do it right. Sub out the frame work and replace the front part of the rail and core support. I have rebuilt, owned, and sold rebuilt total cars for years. There's the quick and dirty way and the right way. It depends on what you want in the result. Boy, am I argumentative, judgemental, and bossy! I would probably tell someone like me to f**k off!

              Problem being, I don't have the $5-600 the body shops want to pull it out right. Time, I have. I know it's going to see my alignment rack a few times so I can get the numbers dead nuts. The numbers would get me close, then see where I have to tweak it further. Would be the same at the body shops, but they have the pullers built in the rack where I have to take the car off, pull and retry. I'm going to get the front straightened out first, then get on the rack and see what's next.

              As for your last line, your speaking from expereance and passing it on. Weather I take the advice, or tell you to piss up a rope, it still falls on me.
