    Oil for M44

I work at Advance auto (I know, I know, but it pays the bills) and the castrol manual says to use 15w40 in an e36 318i which is an m44. But 15w40 is a diesel oil, and when I asked the local german specialist garage they said to use 10w30. Somebody else said to use 10w40. What the hell should I put in this thing? Also what should I put in as far as spark plugs go? I only use the bosch coppers in the m20 but is it ok to use the platinums in a m44? I know these are e36 questions but I thought I'd ask here because I dont have a bimmerforums account, and the engine is similar to the m42.

Thanks. I use 20w50 in the m20 I was just unsure about the m44. I bought a case of 10w30 yesterday so thats resolved. Anybody know about sparkplugs? If I cant get an answer I'm just going to put in some regular NGK's.
