Check panel display options/variants?

So I recently bought a new (new to me) check panel, you know the one near the rear view mirror. I took mine out and the new one is different it came from the same vehicle model with the same options. But the back is certainly different. I had to run the oldest to hockey pratice so I didn't mess with it any further.

Does anyone know if these came in various types? If so any worries or cautions to take interchanging them.

There are 3 manufactures that make them for bmw. Hella, VDO, and Bosch. They are all interchangeable. Some later model come with airbag light.

I have all 3 types and they work on both my early and late model. The harness is the same.
