from the two cars ive stripped, i can tell you there is no good way

the first time was a PITA and took forever with a paint scraper in a 100 degree garage

the second was comparativley easy with a prybar

best bet is to wait for a hot day and use a strong flat blade, the wider the better, that way you can get underneath it

maybe use a hammer too, but just be careful

it seems like it takes forever, but youll find your rythm

use a exacto knife to cut a crisscross pattern in the tar. Then cush up dry ice and cover the sound deadening stuff and let it sit. You'll want to put a towel over top to insulate it so the dry ice does not evaporate really quickly. After a few hours it should peal up. You can buy dry ice at Kroger, good luck that job sucks. What ever tar remains go at with a torch and a scraper, if you use this method make sure you wear a mask you don't want to breath this stuff in.

the hot day method worked better than the heat gun for me, the stuff closest to the rear seats didn't get any sun though, going to dryice that part when I get a chance.

it all came up fairly easily with a prybar and hammer on my 88.
