My car died on me and won't start. 1985 325e. I am not getting any spark. I put a new main relay in and now I hear fuel flowing at the fuel rail. I don't think there should be fuel flowing unless the engine is cranking.

your problem is obviously the crank position sensor. you hear fuel at the rail but that does not mean your injectors are firing. the crank position sensor is probably bad and causing the injectors to not fire and the DME to not give spark.
on your early model it is located on the transmission bellhousing drivers side. also referred to as speed/reference sensor

I will check that next, I just checked to see of I got voltage at the coil. I am getting voltage at the positive and negative terminal with the ignition on. Also I should add, the car died while j went around a corner. The wouldn't start at all, or even try. The next day I went to jump it and it fired right up buy died about 15 minutes later while idling. The car hasn't started since

The sensors themselves are the same, but they serve different functions. And they are VERY easy to reverse!101
