Tach reads approx 3000 revs short

    Hey Team,
My cluster worked fine until I decided to take it out to switch out the odo gears.
When the cluster was out I playd with the tach a bit by revving it gently to redline a few times.
I changed the Odo gears on the speedo put it all back together and popped it back into the car.
Now the tach wont rev until I hit what it feels like 2500-3000 rpm then the needle will start moving up normal.
To clarify it dosent jump to where it should be it just starts going up normal just 3000 revs short.

I replaced the batteries on the SI board, switched SI board, I switch out the little white chip thing, I put in my other e30's cluster in and everything works fine.

Any idea whats wrong with the tach ?

I'm not sure, but if your willing to spend a couple hundred bucks this guy in the San Francisco bay area completely refurbishes clusters/SI Boards. I had great luck with him last spring, you just ship it out to him, and in a matter of a few days, he sends it back. I can look up his info if you're interested.

Yeah, I read various posts about him. Not in the position to spend hundrets on a tach fix since everything works as should except tach. I guess buying a replacement is the only option right now.
