Time for new tires on the e36 M3

Well I've been putting it off for while, but it's really time. The SO-3's currently on the car have slightly over 20,000 miles of driving on them, which I am told is really good wear.

Now while I have come quite attached to how effortlessly 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears can fling the ass out, but they are downright scary on a rainy highway. Last week just changing lanes like a "normal" person the ass end broke free 3 times at 50mph+ Reason being it was pouring, and standing water in ruts. Anyways, I don't have a problem countersteering, but the people behind, and beside me didn't like it

I need to get new footwear on the car, the sooner the better. However I simply do not have the budget for SO-3's again. I need 4 235/40ZR17 tires, and they must be no more then $150 each. Good wear is key, but they need to be sticky too. Excellent water channeling is a MUST. It rains assloads here, and I drive at speed in the rain quite often.

    ideas?

Check out the Bridgestone RE750. That is what I have on my car. Good traction in the wet and very sticky. I love them.

      $150 a piece from tirerack.

I bought 4 235/40/17 Pirelli P7000 supersports for $84/each IIRC from tirerack but that special is over. :?

Yoko avs es100s are going for $109/each at tirerack in that size.

check out a company named toyo, they are damn sticky, and channel water like a paddle wheel. i'd recomend the proxes tpt or higher.

I live in the tropics (lotsa rain) so I chose the Dunlop SP9000 and I've been very pleased with the wet traction & the dry.....dunno the prices in the US though.

my friend has those on his M3 and has very bad luck with them...they are very good traction wise but they wear very fast and uneven on the rears.

We put Yokohama AVS Intermediates on my family 7 series and 5. They perform wonderfully in the rain, I even think there is an article about them in the latest Roundel.

I have Sumitomo HTRZII 235/40/17s on my E36 --- I love them, I'm on my second set.

I spend a lot of my time on the highway, I'm in the military and do plenty of driving - they have always served me well, wet or dry.

I'm sure your SO3s are grippier - but my tires were shy of $110 each, from Tire Rack. I got almost 30,000 miles out of my first set. I do push them, when I'm not on the highway - and considering I'm on a Cup Kit with more than neutral camber, that's pretty good wear.

Yokohama AVS ES 100s are fine. For the money they're not too shabby.

I've never been a fan of Dunlops, sidewalls are too shifty for me.

On my E36 M3 i used the SP7000 supersports and very good mileage and wet traction. The AV's did not last over 12,000 miles
