My old voltage regulator is clearly worn down to nothing, giving me all the usual symptoms. I bought a cheap one off ebay for 16$. 20$ shipped. I know this isn't the best idea but if it does fail, i'm only out twenty dollars. Well upon inspecting the new one in comparison with the old I noticed a large resistor in between the two posts. I probed around with my ohm meter and saw about 118 ohms on the new one, and the old one about 10k+ ohms. I know the old one is bad, making it a bad standard for comparison, but I also know that it doesn't have a resistor mounted in between the two posts.. Well, i'll post a picture with this question; does anyone know what the resistance should be across these two posts/poles? Is there a resistor in my stock regulator, only mounted inside that casing? Will my new one work? any and all advice is appreciated.
