SOLVED: M3 S14 Wiring Harness Pin/Terminal Removal Problem - PICS

Ok it's 1am and I am at my wits end on removing these terminals from their connectors.







I already have a terminal removal kit, shown below



I have tried every tool in that box, and several not in that box, to get this wire out. I believe they are single tab retained terminals because the opening is T shaped rather than + shaped as on newer cars. I believe it is just a matter of pushing down one tab and pulling it out - but experience is showing to be very different.

Has anyone successfully done this before? Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

Yeh replacing with a new piece is tempting. Trying to keep it original if possible since several connectors are brown or blue instead of black. I got one off on accident when the wire pulled off the pin - then i was able to use more force to get it out.



It almost looks like there are two tabs, top and bottom, but the bottom tab is inaccessible because BMW blocked off the bottom hole - This one has an upside down T opening where most (including the Bosch) have a + shape. If thats the case.... thanks Hans.

Solved. There are retainers on the top and bottom, but only the accessible one is a straight tab. The other is curled-like a speed bump that helps retain the clip even if the straight tab is pushed down.

You could probably use a two prong tool to do this in one shot- my mechanic said that's what he does. I got it to work by using one of the single prong segments of the circular type tools that was very thick, almost square, to fully depress the flat tab





Then I used a thinner single prong tool to push the terminal out. This requires a bit of force as you're pushing the terminal past that second "speed bump" retainer. There is a part of the terminal designed to catch the flat tool and let you push hard against it.



There is was a very clear pop when the terminal released - then it can be pulled out with no substantial force.

The pics above are on the terminal I butchered, but I'm removing them intact and in seconds now

You should make a DIY for this. I know it's simple but I am sure people struggle with this and you have invested in some tools to do it right.
