Airbag steering wheel? or not?

I just got a 90 325is. (still have the touring dont worry). it has an early model steering wheel on there that fits like shit. so I'm wondering- is this supposed to be an airbag car? production date 2/90.

if so, what is needed to run a non-airbag steering wheel?

IIRC all 1990 Model Year US e30s were airbag equipped.

so what is needed to fit a non-airbag wheel?

a spacer. if you can find appropriately sized washers to go above the steering wheel / under the big nut that would be fine - or, locate another 14mm spacer like is currently under the wheel (or should be)
