    Check Engine light went dead

    Hi Guys,

I need help figuring this out. My check engine light came on yesterday. It flickered a few times then went completely dead. The light bulb is fine. Where should I look for problem? Is my ECU going bad?

    Thanks,

I Googled high and low today and found only one relevant post on the internet this morning regarding the problem. The solution was to remove the main relay and clean the terminal really good. I'll try that tonight and report back tomorrow. I have my doubts because a faulty grounding in the main relay would cause other symptoms. My car is behaving like nothing wrong.

Cleaning the main relay prongs did not work, sadly.

Time to invest in a Peake scanner since I have no response from anyone.

Probably just a misfire caused by ?

If the light isn't on anymore, but does come on with the key on and the engine not running, don't worry about it.

Nope, it does not come on at all with the key on. I swapped the bulb into the ABS socket and the bulb lights up just fine. As of right now, if there is a problem with the engine, I won't be able to tell. I just have to rely on my ear for anything that might go wrong. This does not give me a lot of confidence in any long drive.

Do your gauges work? Fuse 10 controls the check circuit and the some of the gauges

Check that you're getting power at the check engine light socket with the key in the ON position.. the bulb holder may be defective

I'll do that the next time I have the cluster out.
