does the replacement BMW power antenna come with wiring?

    in this picture

it is really hard to tell if it comes with the wiring that runs to the headunit. my e30 is missing everything for the antenna including the wiring to the headunit.

actually no. But you may unscrew it if you're going through a car wash or something. It's always up, otherwise.
However, it's a lot shorter (~18") and just as effective.

The pic you show from Pelican looks to me like a normal Harada aftermarket power antenna...not the factory BMW part.

Harada is the #1 biggest manufacturer of power antennas.

BMW used Hirschmann for years, then used Fubu...but now I understand is back to Hirschman, dunno.

The Z antenna is amplified, that is how a shorter mast has equal or better performance. Hirschman, Fubu and Harada all make amplified antennas.

AFAIK, only Harada makes a power amplified antenna. 18" mast at full extension, black. About $200 or so, but has cool factor for days.

what about having no mast like most cars. The e32 has it, wonder if it could be fitted

Windshield antenna? Ask anyone driving a car with one, they generally suck.

I don't know of an actual aftermarket windshield antenna, but there are underdash antennas that suck too.

Have you thought about rooftop, like a 16V Jetta, or the E30M3?
