Never posted the last note on this. I had to remove the small plastic lines from the tube, pull the braided hose through, and then push the plastic lines back through. That worked reasonably well.

    Makes sense.

Probably for abrasion resistance inside the metal tube.

I was using a rope to do that. Was thinking about fish tape too. Another option might be to go with an unbraided smooth fuel line which might have less friction. Curious why they spec’ed it with the braid on it, though.

    Thank you!

Maybe use a fish tape and pull it through?

ARRRRRRGH! I am in the middle of trying to get that stupid braided fuel vent line through the conduit on my 1992 convertible, I’ve spent two hours on it and it’s stuck in the middle of the tube, impossible to move.

Does anybody know if this conduit is accessible from the trunk on convertibles? Any ideas on how to get me unstuck?

Yes - it needs to be rated for gas.
Gonna check thanks. Yeah I know it's 13mm but nobody here goes by metric. Tried 5/8" because it's 12.7mm but that little made enough difference. Thanks for advice though

OEM and Genuine parts at the best prices. BMW Distribution Piece (Fuel Tank) 16131178752 guaranteed fit and fast shipping

Did an online live chat with eeuroparts. They said that they just get their BMW parts from a supplier, and the part still showing up on their web site does not guarantee it's available. They said the only way to know is to place the order and let it get rejected. Dead end.

All fixed. That conduit pipe is toast. Have to order the guard plate for the wheel well area. Found out after fixing the threaded hose in the pipe, it ended up being the main fill jose was cracked. Previous owner didnt put the plate back over the fuel level sender section so the smell was coming back into the car. All good now. Thanks for the help.
