Retro fitting late-model low profile 3rd brake light onto an early cabrio trunklid??

Can this be done - the later cabrios had a nice ultra-slim 3rd brake light mounted on the trunk as opposed to the earlier taller ones. Anyone upgrade to the later style? I'm wondering about differences in mounting holes and the "footprint" on the trunk.

Not interested in the "buy a coupe trunk lid and get rid of the 3rd brake light" route...just want it to be lower profile.

not sure but it will make your ca look a lot better. i have seen the older 3rd brake lights and they are just to bulky.
