Brake lining light not turning on

I have a question about the brake lining light. My pads and both sensors are new. I'm just wondering if the brake lining light comes on with the rest of the check lights on the cluster when the key is turned? My brake lining light doesn't come on at all. Is this normal or does the light only come on when the pads are worn?

I believe that light should come on when the key is turned... all the idiot lights come on in position 2, as a way of letting you check the bulbs... sounds like you might have a burnt bulb in the cluster.

As for normal operation, the light only stays illuminated when the brake pads are worn to the point that they eat down the sensor heads and break the electrical circut.

It only comes on when the engine is cranking then turns off when engine starts

^^^ This is normal operation for the brake lining light.

"The brake lining wear indicator comes on when the starter cranks the engine and goes out after the engine has started" ... BMW owners manual, page 22.

All of the other idiot lights come on and stay on when the key is in the on position before starting the engine.
