If your transmission doesn't have a label on it (Manual), the recommended gear oil to use is MTL (70W80 GL-4). Well I went over to my local Napa Auto Parts store to purchase two bottles to do my transmission fluid service (for those of you that don't know, Napa carry's Redline fluid). I grabbed two bottles off the shelf, payed for them and went home.
Well today the day of the service, I realized I had two different bottles, one 70w80 and the other 75w80. I drove over to Napa to swap the bottle of 75w80 for a 70w80 but to my surprise they where "sold out"! After talking with the guy, it turns out the 70w80 bottle I grabbed was a older discontinued bottle that was on the shelf a while longer and that 75w80 is replacing Redline's 70w80. I was wondering if someone possibly just put a bottle of 70w80 in the wrong spot but nope, they even have the same Bar Number on the backside. They looked the same (fluid color), viscosity seemed to be the same, and they smelt the same so I used it, but use it at your own risk I'm not responsible for any issue's you may have.
Figured it was worth the share because if Redline is in fact discontinuing 70w80 theirs going to be a lot of confusion going around on what people should use in there car. Sure 5w difference isn't that much. If it isn't actually being discontinued, or being replaced with 75w80 then this thread I made is going to be completely useless and I apologize in advance for that.
EDIT: 70w80 is no long being advertised on Redline's site so I do in fact think 75w80 is replacing it. Also Turner Motorsports description says "70w80" yet the pics are of a bottle of 75w80.
