I tried to replace my e30 window switch in the rear driver door with an e36 switch. I KNOW it's wired right but I get nothing out of it. Not from the center console switch or the door switch. I'm not getting anything from the passenger side door rear switch either. That one I can roll down and up from the center console. Any ideas? They worked fine before I tried to put in the e36 switches.

Any chance you've bumped the rear window child lock and/or the window circuit breaker on the dash?Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? Info, photos, videos, and more can be found at www.michaelsvintageracing.com!

checked the circuit breaker and it is where its supposed to be. where is the child lock? I am assuming the base for the switch is damaged somehow so I am planning to get a new one and replace it and see if that helps. Although that doesn't make a lot of sense because the switch works in other bases and lights up in the base that its in so I am not sure.

The child lock is a small square button near the window buttons on the center console. I think there may be different switches for front and rear? Do some research into that.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? Info, photos, videos, and more can be found at www.michaelsvintageracing.com!

Child switch isn't the issue. For some reason somewhere between the rear door and he center console up and down are getting power. For both. For example when I push down while connected to the down wire it lights up as supposed to. On the same wire when I push up it lights up also. Slightly. Not any where near what it does when I press down tho. But at the door all is good so somewhere in between something is fucked up. And it does it both up and down wires.
