when doing wheel bearings... rubber dust shield?

in this picture of my strut, where does the "new rubber dust shield" go, as outlined in step 1 in the bentley of reassembly. it would be nice if they gave a part number like "install 33 113 59 1993 (rubber dust shield) between the blank and blank parts. i dont recall ever seeing a dust shield ON my bearing. this could be why it failed and all the other ones are silent.

what is the part number for the dust shield? shit i just submitted a 2 day shipment pelican order this afternoon its probably already been processed...

I don't think it's really necessary. I mean the center cap of your wheel should keep grit and such out.........

The only dust shields that are necessary are already mounted on the new bearing. The rubber piece on each side of it.

gotcha, i figured as long as i put it back together as how real oem shows it i will be fine. it was alot easier to do that i thought. the only puller you need is to put the tire back on when you pull the caliper and pull...dont hit yourself in the knee like did though. woops.
