    Tubes leading to nowhere

Hello. I just bought an e30 second hand and I'm now looking at the engine bay, excited to just do what I can. Car runs and drives, but sometimes does have a low idle and will eventually die if I don't keep the rpms up. But I found these tubes that are just plugged and hanging there. I just uploaded it onto YouTube so you can see where it's located in relation to the engine. I've never worked on a car before and I know very little so I can't describe where the tubes are coming from, what they're connected to or what I think it might be so I figured I'd show you. Last owner told me the engine was swapped if that helps.

Can you guys help me figure out what these are so I can take it off, replace it or whatever I need to do to make this bmw a daily driver. Thanks!

The one from the hood is for the washer pump for washer fluid and the ones from the 3rd video are supposed to go to the heater core (mine are the same way lol) Not sure about the first, but it appears like the hose that's supposed to come off the coolant reservoir

It looks like you don't have the coolant reservoir. It should be in the gap behind the washer fluid one

He has a late model reservoir on the driver side. That water pump is an early model pump though and has the outlet for the early model coolant reservoir.

So because i have an early model water pump, is that hose plugged because it's supposed to go to a reservoir on the right?

            Nice 60fps

your car has been swapped with an early model motor. You can tell because there's no distributor beauty cover and early models have the water reservoir on the passenger side. That hose is supposed to go to it.

the second pic is just your washer fluid hose. It connects to the big plastic tank on the passenger side

The third looks like it's coming off the heater hoses. There was a recall in the US which installed a thermo-valve into the heater hoses. It looks like yours has been partially blocked off

The final hose in the third video is the coolant overflow line from the expansion tank. The end is left open but it should be tucked out through the fenderwell grommet where your brake pad wear sensor wire comes through...that way any overflow coolant exits to the ground instead of fouling things in the engine bay.

Damn, that engine is a trainwreck! The smart thing to do is swap that car to all late model stuff, from the radiator on up. Someone hacked the crap out of that, looks like you get the joy of fixing it.

E30s had an issue with keeping #5 and 5 cool enough, thats why the late model cooling system is smart.

You are going to need water pump, crossover tube, all of it...and don't forget the heater core safety bypass, I ended up with a scalded foot because my heater valve blew up, because some dipshit had no idea why it was there...and you don't have one at all
