SO i thought it was just the motor mount...

But it turns out that my recent events of blowing the passenger side IE Urethane motor mount just doesnt end there. I got underneath the car to look at some things and pull the old mount out, when i noticed the whole bottom piece of the urethane was moving around, even the bracket that it bolted to. I looked around, and noticed that part of the bracket that goes from the frame rail to the Cross-Member broke off from the cross member. Looks like a clean enough break to be welded back on, but it is very thin, around 1/8th thick. So maybe welding and reinforcement. Or I Just replace the whole crossmember.

This would explain why the bushing failed. Something BIG happened and took the whole mount out.

It's been well known that solid mounts crack subframes. The E30 M3 guys have been reinforcing their subframes for years because the vibrations of the S14 make this problem even worse.

Weld it back together with reinforcment and ditch the urethane mounts.

Hrmmm. I think i would rather get a new one, then reinforce that. This is the first time i've heard of this problem tho with running the Urethane Mounts.atleast it didnt happen until after my 1300 mile trip.

Couldn't hurt. Do a search on S14.net about front subframes. Happens all the time with siffer mounts; the smoothness of the 6cyl just makes it less common on 325s.

Highly agreed. We re-inforced the shit out of the E30 M3 and ended up using E38 740i engine mounts.

You don't need to stickin urethane.

Go with stiff rubber if you need something stronger than what your car was designed for.

well i need a quick fix before the autox this sunday, so i put in a new crossmember(easier than i thought) and will be taking the old one down to the shop to start reinforcing it. I plan on postic pictures of how i rienforced it, as theres not much there to make it stronger..
