    Clutch hydraulic system bleeding, problem...

So I filled the brake system with fluid today, pushed it through, and bled it out. Once done with that I moved on to the clutch.

I can pump the pedal (and pull it back off the floor) as many times as I like, but it seems like nothing is being pumped. I haven't had a single drop come out of the slave bleeder nipple, and the fluid in the resivour is just about the same. Also the resistance (or lack thereof) on the clutch pedal isnt changing, just the spring tension.

I don't have or have access to a pressure bleeder.

    WTF is going on?

FYI: I have about 1/2in of brake pedal movement with the 25mm MC :)

you have to back flush your slave from underneath, using one of those hand pumper thingamobobs. You gotta pump the thing at least 60-70 times, close bleeder, check the pedal after that. Then go and chicken baster the brake resevoir to get the old shit out. I think that you should do the slave before a brake flush just so the system doesn't get contaminated, correct?

      Let me make a note.

This morning there was not a drop of fluid in my entire system.

I don't see how back flushing would do anything?

Is your reservoir tank filled up all the way to the MAX line?

I spent A LOT of time trying to fix the exact symptoms you describe, when all it needed was just a bit more of fluid.

Its filled beyond the max line, just a bit past.

I've had the bleed nipple on the slave open, the cap off the reservoir, and the clutch pedal up for over an hour. Gravity feed doesnt seem to be doing squat. I'm now getting frustrated as this is the ONLY thing preventing me from starting the car, and taking it out for a test drive.

            Do you have a "one-way"-valve ?

I think you could attach that to the open bleed valve, only allowing fluid/air to exit the slave, and not entering it, and then start pumping the clutch pedal.

No, I don't have any sort of 1 way valves.

I'm starting to wonder of one of the lines are blocked. I put a small pan under the slave bleeder and not a single drop has come out. Gravity should have yielded something in this time...

I think I'm gonna pull the slave and all the lines leading to the clutch master off the car, and make sure everything is clean and passing fluid.

If I understand the problem correctly I think such a valve could be the solution.
It should probably only be about 10$ at your local hardware store :)

I took the slave cylinder off the tranny (with the bleed valve complete out of it) again not a single drip.

I was surprized when I unscrewed the 11mm fitting on the slave and brake fluid went everywhere. I took the slave out completely, and tested it off the car. I concluded the slave was the issue.

I could blow compressed air into it, pushing the rod out, but not a bit of air would come out the bleed screw hole (without the valve even in it) I tried blowing 20psi back in the bleeder hole, and nothing, not a damned thing went in, turned it up to 40psi, nothing, then just for shits and giggles I tried 90psi. At 90psi the slave flew out of my hand, still without any air going back in.

I shall order a new slave tomorrow. What a pain in the ass.

just for your info it took my almost 3 hours of bleeding before i got pressure.

this was after replacing the slave and master.

it can be a very discouraging process my advice is keep trying.

well damn! how are u holding in the pedal during the bleeding process!?! also that must take FOREVER to get under the car do your thing then get up... pump then do it all over again.

doing it like that, expect it to take all day.
