    Heater Core Inlet/Outlet Hose Missing

Hey, everyone. Just recently picked up a 1990 325i. Got the car for less than a grand because the guy said it needed a heater core. Simple enough, I thought. Having never owned a BMW before, I knew nothing about the system and bought it. Anyway, I come to find out once I read up on the system and comparing engine bay pictures, I am missing everything (or I think its everything) before the aluminum heater core inlet/outlet pipes coming out the firewall into the engine bay. I've looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find a diagram or something that shows what parts I will need to get my heating system running again, more so, to get the system back to having all the parts.

I found a picture that looks like whats going on in my car.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

looks like the hoses have been disconnected from the core and routed back into the motor due to the core leaking. It's just two hoses, one of which runs up to the thermostat housing and the other goes to the back of the head. Lots of US cars had a recall that installed a secondary thermostat/valve in one of the hoses but it's not necessary to keep it.

it's a Kenny Powers quote on wheels

If you could help me with that, I'd really appreciate it.

Seems like thats what's going on but I have no idea what the routing inside the engine bay is suppose to be. Thats kind of what I need help with so I can move on to actually replacing the heater core.

          Thanks

The bottom port connects to the hose that goes to the back of the block. If you don't have the secondary thermostat (or delete it), the top port connects to the big T hose that connects to the thermostat housing and the coolant expansion tank. If you do have the secondary thermostat, it splices in between the top port and the big T hose - I'm not sure on where the rest of the little hoses go for it.
