This probably isnt the forum to ask this, but..

I just bought a 1986 535i a few days ago, and I noticed that it doesnt have the stock wheels on it. So I took'em off and they're 16x8, and they say BBS on them. Hmm...What I'm wondering is, what size tires can I SAFELY run on these wheels? I know the M5 of this model came with 16x7 (I think) or 16x7.5. Right now its running 215/60's on it, which I highly doubt are the wrong size. I would post this on Mye28.com, but that forum is all old-school and its a PITA to use it. Thanks in advance guys.

Yeah, that's a 9.1% change to your drive ratio 215/60-16.

A better tire would be 225/45-16's. you may get rubbing at full lock, but you can roll your fenders easily enough to avoid that. 225/45-16 will not change your drive ratio at all. IF they are too wide, you can try 215/50-16, but that will change it by 2%.

What do I mean by change in drive ratio? Well, with your current setup, when your speedometer says you are going 120kph in the freeway, you are actually going 131kph.
