    Emergency hood release not working

    I just bought a 1990 325i and I haven't been able to get the hood open...cable doesn't work and the emergency release trough he grille is t working either so I don't know what in the world to do now

    I would spray some silicone lubricant into the locking mechanism, through the grill.

    Are you able to move the two metal plates inside the hinge? Or do they not budge one bit?

    If they are seized up (i.e. rust formation) you'll have to get aggressive with the lube and a big screwdriver.

    Also, try having someone pull up on the hood while you jiggle with the hinge.

      Pushing down on the hood while trying the emergency release has a better chance of releasing the lock.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
