doing a rear main seal... what else? (is it called a rear crank seal?)

I prolly should have asked this BEFORE i ordered the stuff but,

rear main seal blew (i'm squirting oil now instead of dripping)

so decided to do a new clutch at the same time...

I bought a sachs clutch kit and "rear crank seal" from bmaparts

However, at bavauto, they sell a sachs clutch kit along with misc gaskets and "rear main seal"... i just wanted to make sure i got the right seal I needed. (does "rear crank seal" = "rear main seal")

And the reason why i bought it from BMA parts is because they're down the street versus the $75 overnight fee from bavauto (i only have this saturday to do this)

You should be fine. The other seals are usually new transmission seals. It's a good ideal to replace them while the transmission is out if you can.

Just be sure to take your time replaceing the rear main seal. Be sure to use some green scotch brite pads with carb cleaner to clean the inside of the rear main seal plate and also around the crank. Also use some gear oil to lub the inside of the seal before you install it over the crank. Rear main seals are finicky. If you don't take you're time they will start leaking after only a few months.

Also, you might want to replace your oil pan gasket if it's got alot of miles on it when you do this job. In most cases, if the oil pan gasket is old it will not reseal when you install the rear main seal plate and cause it to leak just as bad at the back of the oil pan.
