How about JimC instead. The Dinan sucks, and I see no reason to go with ACS.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

Damn... I'm going to AU to get my work done.Originally posted by mjc85I found them, they are $250 which converts to about $450 Australian Dollars, i cant afford that for just a 10hp increse :( i can get my head worked for that much and a new cat-back exhaust...

I doubt that some head work and exhaust will give you a "10hp increase" in an M42 without other mods. Besides, the JC chip is actually a peak gain of 12hp and a much smoother powercurve with more low end torque: what the M42 lacks. I'm not positive about Dinan's M42 chip, but most of their other chips at least are just tuned for WOT. The JC provides gains all through the powercurve, anywhere in the throttle range. You'll get more benefit out of it in daily driving.Originally posted by mjc85I found them, they are $250 which converts to about $450 Australian Dollars, i cant afford that for just a 10hp increse :( i can get my head worked for that much and a new cat-back exhaust...
I haven't heard anything bad about the ACS chip, but then again I haven't heard anything good either. I vote for the JC chip: it's the most trusted and benefitial one on the market.Comment

Even though I've never had a 318is, I do have a Jim C chip in my 87 325, and it's awesome.
The Conforti chip is teh most trusted chip on the market, you just can't go wrong with it.
I'd also say to go with that one, it's a for sure thing that way. ;)- Sean HayesComment

Hey i just found this while surfing:
Important: Jim C./Dinan/Autothority chips are suited to US markets only due to fuel octane.
For Australia/UK try Powerchip/Superchips. All M3 items below regard US spec. cars and
DO NOT apply to Euro spec cars supplied to Australia/UK UNLESS they are marked Euro.
All other unleaded models, eg 535i, are built to the same specification for both Australia/USA.
So i shouldn't by a JimC chip ? or is this garbage, we have 91 octane fuel here as well1990 318is BrilliantrotComment
