    E30 Coolant in interior - A lot!

Hey, so this all started with me leaving my E30 320i with the M20B25 engine swapped into it, on before inspection. I left it idling for like 15 minutes after a quite stressful drive.. The fan stopped working and then came the smoke. The temperature gauge was maxed out! There was coolant allover my driver & passenger floor!

I now solved the fan and it is spinning well! But the issue now is that there is a leak in the drivers side where i lose fluid all the time and I took a hard left turn with my car running.. The passenger side got filled with coolant! It is leaking insanely much! I drove it to the point where i saw fluid come out and smoke inside the car.
Now the engine was not hot, but I was losing fluid.

ALL my fluid goes into my interior! I can't spot the leak. There is big pools of coolant, that is how much it is!

    Any tips?
    Thanks a lot guys!

Sounds like you need a new heater core. Not a fun job.

Depending on how long the temperature was in the red, and how hot the motor actually got, you might have major engine work in your near future.

As for the coolant pouring onto your floors, the increase pressure in the coolant system from the overheat likely caused a weakened part to fail completely and burst. I would start by checking your heater core valve, then carefully inspect the heater box and figure out where the coolant is escaping from.

Does your car have air conditioning?

the heater core is not hard to change. pop off the center console around the shifter and its right by the driver's right knee. its not hard at all

wait a second, is this a right hand drive car? it might actually be easier than a left hand drive since the glove box would be on the left side

I have been renovating a 1992 e30. It came with a failed heater valve, and the hoses not hooked up to the heater core. Lots of do-it-yourself sites and I think at least one youtube site discuss replacing the heater core and heater valve. I practiced at a salvage yard then successfully replaced the core and valve and re-connected the hoses on the 1992 e30. The good news is that, at least for e30s with air conditioning, the dashboard only has to be disassembled a bit on the driver's side to get at the heater core and heater valve.

This, The heater core valve even if its not the main issue here is a bit of a hassle. I highly recommend replacing it while you have the heater core out.
