    testing fuel sender / gauge

Is there a way I can test the fuel gauge? Trying to see if the problem is with the sender or with the gauge...

Can I ground the wire from the sendor or connect a certain resistance to the sendor wire?

    TIA,
    Jake

What is the problem? Just the gauge not working? Or is it jumping? Maybe we have some input on the original problem.

The gauge isn't working at all, sits all the way at empty. Nor is the speedo.
Actually the speedo did jump up to around 20mph yesterday and then back to 0, it worked for a split second.

The tach and temp gauge work fine tho.

This car sat for sometime....probally close to 3 years. Just fixing all this little stuff now.

The PO had actually installed front brake pads on the rear....it was interesting the lengths he went to, to make them work.

Well. Lets see. That speedo issue sounds to me like the circuit board has cracked in the cluster. As far as testing the sender I've not heard anything about proper voltages, but I suppose you can test for continuity.

I'd get that rear brake situation fixed right before I drive much.............
