antifreeze instead of water

i dont think so, i can be sitting at a red light and the temp will climb up to about 1/2 way btw 1/4 and 1/2 and then ill start driving and itll stay around that temp for a while then pretty much all of the sudden itll drop down to 1/4. which i interpret to be the Tstat opening -
I know you don't care for my opinion but I'm going to give it to you anyways. That premixed stuff is lame. They market that stuff for people that don't know their supposed to add water to their antifreeze, ie: soccer moms and P.E. Teachers. Mine and many a techs
worth.

You also run the risk of getting rust in the system if you just run plain water.Leave a comment:

i think its called antyfreeze, because in my country it IS called so :)
ok i'll try to walk the shops find some...Leave a comment:

And on Volgapowers case, do put the antifreeze ASAP.
Why do you think it's called antifreeze? As you know water will freeze at 0 deg C, if air temp is near to zero imagine what windfactor during drive will do to your raditator temp...
Frozen radiator and runnig engine will quite soon blow head gasket.Leave a comment:

my gauge gets to the middle after 5 minutes and stays there maybe goes a little past and this happens only on a race circuit after 4-5 laps
but on race days i usually install my stuck open termostat
and as about water, there is now 100% water and so u think 50/50 will help?
i dont want the water pump to leakLeave a comment:

i dont think im running rich, and i dont give a fuck about my cat, i have no need for it
if anything i think im running lean
if you can tell me an easy way to make it run a little hotter than by all means tell me.
i have only the aux fan running at low, even when its 102 outside it barely goes past the 1/4 markLeave a comment:

If you are running at 1/4 temp you must be running rich. The ECu will add fuel when the car is cold, I would try to bring it just under the 1/2 mark or you will burn our your cat and make your chamber black.Leave a comment:

Wrong. High load heats up an engine, not high revs. At high RPMS the water pump spins really fast, and if you are driving fast, but at a constant speed (very low load), then the motor is getting cooled significantly.
I still don't know why most people brag that their car is around the first tick mark. That's not hot enough!! It needs to hover around the center mark to be at optimum temp.Leave a comment:

Also, you are supposed to run a 50/50 mixture, preferably with BMW Original coolant, because the coolant is introduced to help lubricate the water pump's internals.Leave a comment:

The optimal temperature for the coolant is in fact the middle mark on the gauge for the needle. This is when your car is fully warmed up, and you shouldn't really be ripping it up until the car has at least hit this mark.
Of course when your car is moving, it may dip below the half point every once in a while.Leave a comment:
