Engine oil light on, car wont idle?

Well my engine oil light is on, which is weird as i have plenty. I also changed it 3200km's ago.
So today i was playing with my sub as it hasnt been working latly, took the ground and attached it to the negative terminal on the battery(just to see what would happen) and now the car wont idle.
Anyone been through this before? haynes manual says nothing.
    Thanks,
    Mitch

First off, throw the hanes away and get a real manual (Bentley).

Which oil light is on? the one on the OBC above your head or on the guage cluster?

if its the one on the check panel then its saying you dont have enough oil in the car

if its the one on the guage cluster then your pressure is low and you may have some serious problems

Oh and if you grounded the sub incorrectly you could have shot something out.

I would test for a short at the following: ECU, ICV, Fuel pump. you probably fried something when you were playing around with the sub.

My eta oil light doesn't go off on the check panel but I know it has plenty of oil. It just started this lately. Are there sensors that could be faulty or have jiggled loose? What is the "oil sending unit"?

The oil sending unit tell you how much oil is in the car. If the oil is low, the light comes on. It is on the oil pan.

Changed my oil today but the light is still on. Its the one in the check control, not gauge cluster.
And my sub wont work becuase i just found out my system control wire does not go anywhere? I just pull up the trunk carpet and the wire goes to the antenna. But is not attached to anything. Sub worked until the past few weeks, so im not sure where it is supposed to attach, i thought it went to the head unit?

So the OSU has to be the culprit, are there any other possibilitys?

On my 325is I had to pull out the sensor and clean it out really good with some brake kleen or carb cleaner and it started working again. I think it just got junked up over the years.

Where would I find this sensor? Is it the one on the side of the block right above the oil pan on the passenger side?

The oil level light on the check panel, goes to the oil level sensor, right behind the alternator in the top of the oil pan. The one in the block right behind the oil filter, is the oil pressure sending unit for the light on the cluster. I had some trouble with my oil level check light staying on a while back. Turns out the coating had melted as it was touching the block and the wires were making a connection.
