A/C on makes car jump, squeal, and clunk

So it's a whole whopping 60* today, and Tara decides to push see if her A/C still works.

It's a good think she checked too. When she pushed the A/C button, the car jumped forward, and made a horrible squealing sound. It does it every time you push the button. The car is a 91 318iS.

Any ideas on what needs to be replaced?

That's what i was thinking, a fux0red compressor.

It goes into the shop on monday, so we'll see.
