    Did Something Stupid...

Hey guys, I've been trying to get the batteries changed on my SI board with no luck. I changed the batteries and my tach still doesn't work so im guessing my SI board is dead. Anyway, I thought maybe it needed to be reset. I jumped the plug in the bay and turned the car to the on position but did not start it.

I waited and waited and the lights never went out. I then turned it off and then started it forgetting that I still had the jumper wire in there... Doh.. Now my car doesn't sound as strong starting up. It also has a weird idle problem now. It idles fine but when I accel and then let off the gas the idle kinda falls and comes back up.

Aside from that my red service indicator led stays on constantly along with my oil light. Im really hoping that I didn't mess anything up and all this is related to my crappy SI board. What's your guys take on this ? Did I mess something up ? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm. I don't know if you messed anything up but it doesn't sound good. Did you charge the batteries before you put them in? Also your SI lights should have gone out. Are you sure you jumped the right sockets?

I replaced the batteries with the same ones I found at a electronics store. The SI board still isn't working though. The yellow and red lights just stay on. As far as the sockets go, that's a good question. I found two different websites that state two different things. I tried both and neither seemed to do anything. Another weird thing is. I tried doing the peddle trick last night and i got the 1444 code. So everything looked good.

I tried resetting the lights again (which didn't work) and then disconnected and reconnected the battery. After that I was unable to get the peddle trick working no matter how many times I tried it. Currently the car will idle in my driveway with no probs but kinda chokes if I give it quick gas. When I let go of the gas its almost wants to die and then gets its self back up. Driving it is a whole nother story.

Its extremely difficult to get it to not die starting out in first. And once im driving and then come to a light the idle is all wavy. Im just really bummed out cause I just got the thing. Now im already trying to diagnose problems. If anyone has anything please throw it at me. Take care.

This one says to jump pins 19 and 7.

The description to this pictures says to jump pin 1 (ground) and 7

I'm pretty sure I used the first diagram with pins 7 and 19 and that worked for me. I would try to find someone with a known good ecu and put it in you car to see if it makes a difference. My sisters car acted the same way with the pulsing idle syndrome, we got her a used ecu for fairly cheap and it ran normally at that. Did wire a fuse in your jumper? Its always a good idea.

No I forgot to ad a fuse to the jumper like an idiot. Its weird cause I did the gas peddle thing this morning and it worked. It blinked 1222. I checked it and I guess its for the oxygen sensor. I took it for a drive and the light came back on and then went off again. I went home to check it again and now the peddle thing wont work again. I was thinking about barrowing a ecu but the car is a 88 seta. I don't know how common that ecu is. I will keep looking into things in the mean time. Thank you.

I checked out a few spark plus today to find out that they are black. So im guessing the 1222 ox code is because my car is running very rich. Any ideas as to why this happened out of no where ? Thanks guys.
