short in reverse light blue/white wire

I have a short in the blue/white wire i am trying to track down. are there any sections of this wire that are prone to shorting. according to the picture there is C301 between the two locations, where and what is this. A splice?

admittedly electricals are my pitfall, i would rather replace an engine than figure out electrical problems,

the bl/wh wire reads continuity to the body on both sides, meaning the wire is not cut, but most likely sheathing is exposing wire to a ground source.

as of right now i am testing it from the connector at the shift boot and the connector at the tail light. Ruling out the switch, 2 wire extension that runs to the switch, and the tail light housing.

i am afraid i am going to have to pull out my entire interior to find this short.

Please help!!! i am so close to getting this thing ready for inspection/registration. it has been a year and a half build and seems like a trivial reason to be prevented from driving it on the roads legally.

after a little bit of research c301 is the 2 pin connector i already removed. so there should be no intereuptions from my test points. am i roght to assume that i could theoretically just run a new wire from the to connectors????

SOLVED**** . i had been dreading pulling the interior, but, it luckily was pretty simple once i did. When i reinstalled the driver seat, i pinched the wire bundle going to the switch causing it to ground to the seat stud.

while this is not a likely solve for most, the wire does run close to these studs and if you have installed seats since your reverse issue, this could be the cause. i soldered the wires ack together and once again have tail lights. hopefully, it is good to get inspected. I still have some strange issues, but not related to drivability.
