    Idle help

I just changed my spark plugs to Bosch supers thought it fixed my problem of the car not firing up. but it didnt. Heres the problem. When I turn it over it turns over for about 3 seconds then shits out. It doesnt go up to the normal idle, it goes to about 400 rpms then dies. I can only start the fucker if I give it gas and hold it at about 1500 for about 15 seconds then it idles. And i believe theres a vacuum leak when i hit the brakes the idle flucuates.(dont know how to spell that) So idk what to do here I've been trying to figure it out for like 4 or 5 months now and still nothing....

get a can of wd40 or carb cleaner and spray it around where any possible vac leaks would be, if the car starts revving theres your leak, its burning the cleaner it sucked into the intake, try your intake boot, all vac hoses on the intake and the o-rings for your injectors, just spray around em an listebn to the engine

Could the breather hose for the valve cover be clogged like on the throttle body cause theres alot of shit in there and without the breather hose on the car fires right up.

i think you found it. although i never would've though that one little thing could cause the car to fail to startup. and how much gunk is in it? looks like its seeping out the tb. your pictures suck.

Search function to the rescue! :)

I've been chasing a hard to start problem for a little while now. I'm going to replace the hose in the pics above because mine looks like its the original piece and is harder than a rock and cracked in several places.

Does anyone know the part number of the hose above? I've had a look on realoem.com, but thats a tough hose to find in the pics.

I was able to get a part number from pelican parts: 11-15-1-708-801-M101. I hope that matches up to the dealer part number.

You inspired me to have another look. Finally found it on this page, item #3: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...38&hg=11&fg=15

Doesn't look exactly like mine, but the part number matches pelican parts, and pelican's pic is correct. $14.95 on realoem.com. Based on realoem.com's prices, my local dealer will probably want around $30 Cdn for the hose. Better not be a dealer only item. (grumble, grumble)
