    Quick question

I pulled the dip stick to check oil level of my newly bought 90 325i. Strong smell of gasoline from the oil. What does that indicate or mean?

    Thanks in advance

    Sounds like blowby to me.

it means that your piston rings are wearing out and that burned and unburned gas is escaping around them into your crank case.

You can test for this by starting your engine, taking the oil filler cap off and covering the hole with your hand (careful, it might be hot). If you feel pressure then chances are it's blowby.

It could also mean lots of short trips where the engine never gets warmed up and is constantly running really rich...

I pulled all the spark plugs and checked. They all look terribile. I am going to replacing them and do a motor oil flush and see if it will get better.
I did a compression test. the pressure looks ok though. they are 175psi range all across
Will let you guys know what happpen.
        Thanks for the replies.
