    Car swap: Battery connection

I am moving an m20b25 from an '87 325is to an '86 325e. Trying to hook everything up and among other things, I am having trouble hooking up the battery cable. First picture shows what the connection looked like in the '87 and the second picture is what I've got with the '86. Is there supposed to be a difference between the two cars in the way the battery cables are run? I do not seem to have the right cables to hook to in the '86. Are the wiring harnesses supposed to be identical in the '86 and the '87?

That block that all the wires go into is a seperate piece. If you look close, the first pic has that round end of the main battery cable under there too. Take it apart, you'll see.

The car wiring should be the same, but the engine wiring is all different so it may not end up exactly the same.

the only difference between e30s battery wiring is mainly where it is located.. either trunk mounted or engine bay mounted..

even so, it can be moved either way and relocated..

despite maybe a few minute differences, there should be nothing
