M50nv has pressed head bolt washers?

I am taking apart an old M50nv motor that’s been sitting in storage for awhile. Took it apart and everything seems good. Realized that the head been worked on before. While getting out the head bolts, I realized that the headbolt washers are pressed on. Do I or can I just take a perfectly shaped chisel and with a hammer, knock out those tabs? I tried googling this but cannot find anything yet. Pic is below...

I don't see why you couldn't. Not a really a reason to though, unless they are loose and you are worried about them falling out during clean-up or something.

I plan on installing arp Head studs and would like the area where the washer is to be clean.
