HELP, need a pic of an ETA harmonic balancer REMOVED

I'm stick doing my timing belt. I can't get the damn lower timing cover off thanks to the alternator bracket stud. Flippin BMW engineers, it just needs 1 more millimeter to clear the big aluminum bracket that holds the PS pump/alternator. So I keep reading the bentley, which says you don't need to remove the hub if it's not 2 piece. I thought this means you don't need to remove the harmonic balancer, because on my M5 it was the same thing. And while this one is not torqued to 500 ft lbs, it's still more than my torque wrench and probably my clutch/handbrake can handle.

So I removed the 6 bolts and the small pulley came off but the balancer doesn't come off. I tried tapping it with a hammer lightly and prying with a screwdriver with no success. I can't get a crowbar in there without damaging something aluminum (oil pan or the damn timing cover).

Before I procede, can someone confirm 100% or post a picture of the balancer to assure me for sure that it is not the "2 piece" whatever that is, and is NOT held on by that big mother bolt?

My car's an '87. The balancer is the type with the smooth outside. It looks the same as this B25 balancer but no teeth:

Unfortunately RealOEM.com has this picture that shows it as a 2 piece.

But on the other hand I don't remember ever having to remove my lower timing cover on my 87 325i. Is the 87 eta engine any different?

Actually that looks like the balancer is indeed a slide-on type - IE the bolt doesn't hold the balancer, the small ones do.

But hmm... you know maybe I really can thread the timing belt past the cover as is............ hmmmmm.

It shows the same thing for the B25 actually. But looking on Ebay, it does look the same as mine, except it doesn't have the timing teeth.

So did you just loosen the cover and get the belt through the crack?

I believe we didn't even loosen the cover.. we just slipped it in between the gears. I do remember it wasn't that hard and it did not require us to remove the lower timing cover only the upper timing cover had to be removed.

ON an 87 it's a 2 piece for sure. It just needs some persuasion.

Common sense- It's the new 'gifted'
