Hahahaa, I was actually thinking that the chattering/sputtering could be coming from the distributor.. the sound was coming from the front of the engine and a loose rotor or whatever could be bad timing.... sometimes?

Are you running motronic or L-jet? Do you have a big orange distributor cap that sticks out the top of your motor at the front? I might consider keeping the L-jet setup when I swap mine, it has such great throttle response compared to my motronic E28.

The engine is from an E32 735i, so the whole setup is motronic 1.3

It's still doing it. I have to check for proper fuel pressure to determine if it's a fuel delivery issue.......

How can I check to see if it's a bad distributor/rotor? Is it difficult to change it?
