I just installed a new top and frame on my car, and it's working out real well except for a large amount of wind noise from the top of the windshield. I readjusted the top to have it meet the windshield better, and the top is now in perfect position, but I still have a lot of wind noise.

When I pull down on the top on the freeway (pulling it tight against the windshield), the noise is greatly reduced. I think the latches are loose; when I took them off and looked at them, it looked like a hex tool/allen wrench would tighten it.

Anybody done that and have any tips? I don't want to tighten it too much.

i first removed my handles, and just WD40'd them and tightened them up, but to fix that leak and windnoise, i removed all the shims from the rear horizontal mounting nuts.

that moved it up 5mm for me.

and fixed it all.

I actually tried removing all the shims from the rear, but the passenger side refused to meet with the windshield.

It meets up perfectly at the windshield right now, and because I can make the wind noise go away by pulling down on the top, I'm almost positive tightening the latches will fix it.

well, all you can do to those is tighten them to the frame, there is no adjustability tightening feature.

what i have noticed on mine is that where they actually turn into and lock onto the winsheild frame, it has been "eroded" away from 20 yrs of turning and scraping onto it. now it sits a little less tight there,,

im sure it could be fixed by welding a small, flat piece of metal to fill up the worn place, but im no welder.
