    How do emblems attach?

I have searched but haven't really found what I want to know. I am wondering how are the rear "325i" emblems attached to the car? Are they attached with some kind of adhesive?

If I would to take mine off would there be holes?

    Thanks
    DJ

    They are glued. No holes.

its pretty much 15-20 year old strong double sided tape matched to the badge size. heat gun on low and then some adhesive remover. just dont bubble your paint.

How bad will the glue be to get off? Will the paint be nasty/discolored under them?

not if you get it all off... which is a pain. I used a hair dryer and some dental floss and I got almost all of it off.

For future reference, the roundels are held on with pins.

To remove them, place a credit card or similar card next to the roundel. Then, CAREFULLY use a small straight-blade screwdriver to remove it, prying agaist the card.

The guy assured me that he can get them off before shipping so I guess all I can do it trust him and ask him for a pic before he sends it to me.

                  Thanks for the help.

he stated pretty clearly it was about the "325i" emblem. not the roundels. so the roundel removal tips although accurate, don't work for his question.

if you use a little TB cleaner it comes off easy, just make sure you clean it all off quick, then hit it with some buffing compounds

Hence why I said "for future reference". That way if someone searchs on the subject, they will find their answer. His original question was answered after the second post.

What about the 3rd brake light on a vert? Glue or bolts/pins?

I believe those are bolted. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I didn't even use a hair dryer, I just used a piece of sewing machine thread and stripped the emblem off, then used Goof-Off for the adhesive. After I got it all off, I used cutting compound to get rid of the outline, and then waxed the area. I need to cut it again though, at certain angles, you can still see the ghost outline of the adhesive.
