    '85 318 clutch shudder

My '85 Bauer 318i has had three clutches, including three flywheel grinds and it STILL shudders on takeup after it has done about 10,000 past the rebuild. Worse when it's hot. Any ideas, similar problems? We're getting desperate here!

There should be a 1mm step on the flywheel. The outer surface where the pressure plate mounts should be lower than the friction surface. Simply machining the friction surface will cause your problems. If the shop is unable to do this, it is better to skip any machining on the flywheel.

Thanks for the response. I'll try shopping the flywheel around until I find someone who knows what they're doing. This is going to wind up a light weight flywheel!
