    speed sensor/ reference sensor question

Noob question :X. I have an 87' 325is. I just changed my headgasket, water pump, timing belt, and valve cover gasket. Everything was going smooth until i found that the speed sensor that goes under the diagnostic connector was missing. The reference sensor is in place(the one attached to the crank right?), but I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the speed sensor is connected.

Brandon, what sensor are you talking about? I also have a '87 325is, and don't know what you are referring to. Can you take a pic?

Well, underneath the diagnostic connector deal right next to the dipstick there is a bracket that houses 2 sensors and 2 connectors.

The two connectors are in place, however only 1 of the sensors is in place ( the 'reference' sensor I believe, thats connected near the crank)

I can't find the other sensor that attaches to the bracket, i lost track of it while I was taking everything apart.

It comes from the plastic ring around the #6 spark plug wire close to the dist. cap.
