    Electric Heater???

The heater died in my wife's car, it is not a BMW but I thought you guys might help out. It cost over $1,200 to fix it at the stealership, and I have tried several times myself with no luck. I'm moving on to other options now and was thinking about an electric heater. I have found some that wire into you car, or I was thinking about running one or two from an inverter. The car is a 1994 Infiniti Q45, the cabin is about the same size as a E32. Has anyone tried this before or have any ideas on good products. I'm trying to keep the cost to under $500. It gets down to the teens here some days so I need something that can handle that. I also have 6 month old son, so this needs to work well, and not catch the car on fire. Think it can be done, or should I just take it to the stealership :eeek: ?!?

    I have one question here.

What the hell would cost $1200 to fix in your heater?

it is a 12 hour job at the dealership, it requires the removal of the entire dash.

Anyway, nothing on the electric heater huh.....

ah HA! What a bitch. Bad heater motor? Fuck man, what a drag.

Not something you wanna tackle yourself, huh?

If I were you, I would get some other opinions.

As far as your electric thing, I would check in the RV world, or the air-cooled VW people.

It looks likt the air cooled VW's user the exhaust gases to heat the cabin air, kinda neat but useless to me. RV heaters look like the best way to got. Thanks.

I don't know Josh.. you know those exhaust gases can keep the cabin pretty warm and put the baby straight to sleep.

                  Exhaust heat, NOT gases :)

You ass! ;) O by the way you might want to check your brake lines before you go to lunch :finger:

Looking at some RV sites I think I got some options. Thanks!

Air cooled VW guys have been using electric heaters for many many years. The stock exhaust heat setup works poorly.
