fuel sending unit..how to get to it please

I'm troubleshooting a dead fuel gauge and i've eliminated the cluster from the mix. i thought i'd try the sending unit next. where is it located and how do i get to it? I'd refer to my bentley but it's still in transit

    thanks!

I assume all E30's are the same...there are 2 fuel senders located under the rear seat. On the left side you will find a metal cover, which you will have to remove to expose the sender. On the right you'll have to do the same. There you will also find the fuel pump. The sender slides into the pump. Removal is pretty straight forward.

I saw one on ebay if you are interested. Try typing it in on ebay , you should find it.

Without knowing your production date, here's what my car has: https://www.autohausaz.com/search/pr...20Gas%20Gauge).

AutohausAZ is one of my favorite parts retailers, but you might want to try BMAParts.com. They're highly recommended around here. Get back to us with your month and year of production (should be on the door), and we'll be able to help you better.
